Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The work is original and unpublished, falls within the scope of RIT, and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The submission includes two Word (.docx) files: one containing the authors’ names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID iDs, and biographical notes; the other containing the anonymized manuscript, with no identifying information in the text or file metadata.
  • The manuscript is written in Spanish, corresponds to the selected section, and meets its length and structure requirements; it includes a title in Spanish and English and, for articles and essays, an abstract and keywords in both languages.
  • Citations and references comply with the bibliographic requirements set out in the Author Instructions; the text also follows its stylistic criteria. Every work cited appears in the reference list and vice versa.
  • The text uses 12-point Times New Roman and 1.25 line spacing; headings, block quotations, notes, tables, and figures, when present, follow RIT’s presentation guidelines.
  • All listed authors have approved the submission; the necessary permissions have been obtained, and conflicts of interest and, where applicable, substantive use of artificial intelligence tools have been disclosed.
  • The work did not generate or use unpublished research data—such as interviews, surveys, corpora, or databases—or, if it did, the submission indicates where they can be consulted or why they cannot be shared.

Author Guidelines

The Interdisciplinary Journal of Theology permanently welcomes submissions of articles, essays, and reviews. The journal operates under a continuous publication model.

Manuscript submission

Manuscripts should be sent to our email: rit@sitb.edu.ar. It is also possible to submit through the journal's editorial management system (OJS) by accessing the submissions section with a registered user account.

Manuscript format

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Font: 12-point Times New Roman
  • Line spacing: 1.25
  • Emphasis: use italics (not underline)
  • Illustrations and figures: included in the text at their corresponding location

Length

  • Articles: between 5,000 and 10,000 words (including notes and references)
  • Essays: between 3,000 and 6,000 words
  • Reviews: between 1,000 and 2,000 words

Required structure

Submissions must be prepared in two files: one file with author information and another with the anonymized manuscript. For details on what each file should include, see the Author Instructions (pp. 2-3, in Spanish).

The manuscript file must include:

  • Title: in Spanish and English
  • Abstract (articles and essays): 120 to 180 words in each language (Spanish and English); both versions should clearly state the problem addressed, approach, and conclusion
  • Keywords (articles and essays): between 4 and 6, in Spanish and English
  • Body text
  • References

Book reviews do not require an abstract or keywords.

When a manuscript has more than one author or includes other contributors, it must end with a brief statement describing each person’s contribution. Those listed as authors must have participated in discussing the results and reviewed and approved the final version; other contributions should be acknowledged in the same note.

Citation style

The journal uses APA Style (7th edition) with some specific adaptations. For general guidance, see our Quick Guide for Authors (PDF, in Spanish). For full details and special cases, see the Author Instructions (PDF, in Spanish).

Originality and publication ethics

Submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been published previously and are not under consideration by another journal. By submitting a manuscript, the author declares that the work is their own, that all sources have been properly cited, and that there are no undisclosed conflicts of interest.

The journal is guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). For a detailed description of the responsibilities of authors, editors, and reviewers, as well as policies on plagiarism, retraction, and appeals, please see our Publication Ethics page.

Research data

Some studies produce or gather materials that help readers understand and verify their results, such as interviews, surveys, transcripts, documentary corpora, or databases created for the study. These materials are known as research data.

If the work produced or gathered materials of this kind, or used a non-public dataset, authors must indicate where they can be consulted or briefly explain why they cannot be shared. This is not required for theoretical or bibliographic works, reviews, or studies based solely on books, articles, or other previously published sources. For the full policy, see Publication Ethics.

Editorial process

Articles and essays that pass the initial editorial assessment undergo external double-blind peer review. Book reviews are evaluated by the editorial team. For details on the process, see the About the Journal section.

The journal is committed to providing timely feedback and maintaining confidentiality throughout the evaluation process.

Articles

The Articles section publishes original, unpublished research papers, subjected to double-blind peer review. Contributions from all disciplines in dialogue with theology are welcome. Manuscripts must comply with APA citation guidelines (7th edition) and the journal's editorial standards. Length: 5,000–10,000 words (including notes and references).

Essays

The Essays section publishes academic reflective texts addressing theological, philosophical, cultural, or pastoral issues from an informed and well-argued perspective. Unlike research articles, essays allow greater freedom in structure and style, favoring the articulation of ideas and the exploration of original perspectives over the application of a strict method. Nonetheless, intellectual rigor, bibliographic support, and a sustained academic register are required. Essays undergo double-blind peer review. Length: 3,000–6,000 words. Citation style: APA (7th edition).

Book Reviews

The Book Reviews section publishes critical evaluations of recently published books (within the last 5 years) relevant to the journal's thematic areas. Reviews should go beyond a descriptive summary of the content: a critical assessment is expected that situates the work within its field, identifies its contributions and limitations, and offers a well-founded appraisal of its relevance. The full bibliographic reference of the reviewed work must be included following APA style (7th edition). Reviews are evaluated by the editorial team and are not subject to peer review. Length: 1,000–2,000 words.
